What Is An Ultrasound Bone Densitometer?
Ultrasonic bone densitometer uses ultrasound through water or coupling agent to measure the SOS (ultrasonic sound velocity), BUA (ultrasonic frequency attenuation) and BQI (bone quality) of the human body’s calcaneus, hip bone, cavity bone and phalanx through the measured tissue. Index) and a set of parameters related to bone quality, which calculate and reflect the value of human bone quality, thereby diagnosing the bone quality of the subject.
Principle
The basic principle is to transmit ultrasonic waves from one side of the bone to the other side, receive ultrasonic waves with attenuated amplitude after passing through bone and soft tissue, and measure two parameters closely related to bone density and bone microstructure—ultrasonic speed of sound (SOS) and Ultrasonic frequency attenuation (BUA) is used to calculate bone density and bone strength respectively.
Clinical application
1. Physical Examination Center
Ultrasonic bone densitometer has the advantages of convenient detection and no radiation damage. It is currently the only instrument that can be widely used in general surveys, re-examinations, dynamic observation of bone density changes and timely prediction of the risk of complications.
2. Pediatrics
3. Obstetrics and Gynecology
Because there is no radiation, ultrasound bone mineral density can be used to observe the dynamic changes of bone mineral density during pregnancy and lactation.
4. Endocrinology and Geriatrics
Bone and joint pain and fractures caused by osteoporosis are clinically multiple diseases.
5. Orthopedics
Bone mineral density testing for middle-aged and elderly people with bone and joint diseases and fractures has become a routine examination item.
Advantage
1. Non-invasive, non-radiation
Bone analyzer measuring bone density has obvious advantages over X-ray bone density measuring instrument, especially non-radiation, which can completely avoid the carcinogenic and teratogenic side effects of X-ray bone densitometer, especially in the fetus, children and adolescents. Cells grow vigorously, and DNA is easily damaged by radiation and becomes cancerous. Elderly people also increase the risk of cancer due to the reduced ability to repair damaged cells. Therefore, the use of X-ray equipment in pregnant women, children, adolescents, and the elderly should be avoided as much as possible. The ultrasound bone densitometer does not have any radiation, it is suitable for the bone density inspection of children, pregnant women, and the elderly, and it is safe and reliable.
2. High accuracy and repeatability
The reverse technology of two-way transmission and two-way reception is adopted, and two equidistant sound velocity values are obtained at the same time to indicate the parallel state of the ultrasonic device and the measured bone. The two sound velocity values are displayed on the test interface with different color ribbons, and the results are visible and easy to operate. The visual positioning system ensures the accuracy and repeatability of the measurement.
